Opening
Friday, October 6, 7pm

The festival began at 3LD Art and Technology Center with some opening remarks by Joel Chadabe. Andrea Polli then introduced Dr. Cynthia Rosenzweig, leader of the Climate Impacts Group and Senior Research Scientist at the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies, who spoke about climate change. An opening reception, co-hosted by Electronic Music Foundation and The New York Society for Acoustic Ecology (NYSAE), was followed with performances by members of the NYSAE.




On Melting Ice
Saturday, October 7, 4pm

Panelists Philip Dadson, Bernie Krause, Andrea Polli, and Joe Gilmore described their experiences on Earth's polar regions, how it affected their work, and how their work reflects the realities of those regions.




Service at Judson Memorial Church
Sunday, October 8, 11am

Senior Minister Donna Schaper invited composer Robert Rowe and ecologist Bernie Krause, founder and president of Wild Sanctuary, to participate in a service, dedicated to Ear to the Earth, at Judson Memorial Church.




What Water Means
Sunday, October 8, 4pm

Panelists Steven Feld, Annea Lockwood, Bernie Krause, David Monacchi, and Joel Chadabe, representing the UNESCO DigiArts Portal, offered perspectives on water.




Sound Art and Preservation
Saturday, October 14, 4pm

Laurie Spiegel, David Dunn, David Monacchi, and Shankar Barua (through a visual document presented by Joel Chadabe) discussed environmental issues with scientist Jim Tolisano. Can sound art help us in preservation efforts?
