Making photographs offers me a richer and more interesting life. The lens provides a doorway, offering passage to other worlds, surprising me with strange and beautiful revelations. I am particularly fond of quiet drama, which can reveal the hidden qualities of what might seem like mundane subjects. My goal when making images is to become part of the unique essence of the moment, using all my senses, and then to communicate my experience to others.
Looking for "good" images is almost a futile exploration. More satisfying is freeing my mind, so I can accept images when they present themselves. Once the image is found, making the photograph is easy, for it already exists in its completed form. It does not worry me if I don’t understand an image when I am photographing; I have faith that when I look at it later, it will reveal itself.
